61 Molesworth House is reported to be severely damaged and engineers are keeping a watching brief on the lift tower where a vertical supporting beam has been broken into 2 parts. Neighbouring buildings including the Red Cross Building and Rugby NZ House have been evacuated
61 Molesworth Street was built in 1961 and was a 9 storey office building with ground floor retail.
It was previously known as Deloitte House. Deloitte Consulting occupied all the office space approx. 5,625 sqm except for one floor 650 sqm which was occupied by the Canadian High Commission.
In 2005 Deloittes moved to 10 Brandon Street and the Canadian High Commission moved to 125 The Terrace
The building has been vacant since (apart from ground floor retail monthly leases) and was originally owned by the St Laurence Group who later sold it to Prime Property group
